Like burrata, stracciatella is originally from Puglia and its name comes from its peculiar composition: stracciata means shredded, ripped in Italian, like the strings made by shredding a mozzarella fior di latte. These strings are then mixed with panna, a UHT specialty cream imported from Italy, and the result is a unique soft cheese with an unimaginable savory / sweet flavour.
Try it as a pizza or bruschetta topping. Simply delicious as well on some Italian bread, crostini or in a salad. Alternatively, why not make a Lina Stores focaccia sandwich at home? We like ours with Stracciatella, Prosciutto di Parma, Semi Dried Tomatoes and Rocket!
