Panettone is the most famous Italian treat for Christmas and New Year. Originally from Milan, it has become a festive favourite in so many countries around the world.

The traditional recipe includes flour, butter, sugar, eggs, raisins and candied orange peel, but many other variations are available, from chocolate and pistachio to limoncello and beyond.

This version from Flamigni is inspired by the Bellini, the famous Venetian cocktail of peach and sparkling wine. It is filled with a fruity Bellini cream, then finished with a white chocolate glaze and sugar grains. It comes in a colourful metal gift tin, making it a lovely present for a festive host.

Based in Forlì, in Emilia-Romagna, Flamigni has been baking panettone with its own mother yeast since the 1930s. The dough is slowly leavened for a soft, fragrant crumb, keeping the traditional craft alive with a playful modern twist.
