We have been making fresh homemade sauces at Lina Stores since 1944.
Originating from Genoa (just like the real Lina!) and a real Lina Stores classic, our basil pesto is made with fresh basil leaves, extra virgin olive oil, pine nuts, Pecorino Romano and Parmigiano Reggiano. Traditionally paired with trofie, green beans and potatoes it also works perfectly with our homemade Casarecce or Tagliatelle or even try tossing spinach and ricotta ravioli in some. Can be used in soups, salads or on raw and cooked vegetables.
200g/4 - 6 portions. A little goes a long way.
Add cooked pasta to a mixing or serving bowl or pan. Add room-temperature basil pesto and mix until fully incorporated. Add some pasta water to bind. Plate with freshly grated Parmigiano Reggiano.
Pesto should never be directly heated.
Store in fridge and consume by use-by date (there is a 3-day shelf life). Pesto may discolour but pouring a small amount of olive oil over the top will help to preserve. Stir before using.
Sauces can be frozen from fresh for up to 3 months. Ensure pesto is completely defrosted and thoroughly stirred before using.
