We were honoured to appear recently in a documentary with not one but TWO of our absolute food heroes – Nigella Lawson and Anna Del Conte. Anna del Conte is a seminal figure in Italian cooking and in this wonderful documentary Nigella Lawson leads a fitting tribute to the cook who has had such an impact on the growth of Italian food in the UK.
Over 60 years ago Anna Del Conte used to come to Lina Stores to find speciality ingredients from Italy and in the documentary she returns to the store to find very little has changed over the years.
The programme will be broadcast live on BBC2 on Christmas Eve at 12 noon and can be viewed any time on BBC iPlayer here.
Find below some of the ingredients Anna Del Conte used from Lina Stores to make delicious pesto, an antipasti selection and a Bolognese ragu:
- Laudato Extra Virgin Olive Oil
- Tagliatelle
- Pecorino Romano
- Parmigiano Reggiano
- Salame Felino
- Lardo
- Pancetta
- Bella Di Cerignola Olives
- Prosciutto Di Parma

After several years of absent from the UK due to living in Paris I suddenly had a pang to terace my old favoured fItalian ood shop in London, we therfore, brought a fairly large and beautiful French trolly with us all the way from Clapham to Soho not knowing whether my favoured Italian food shop Lina was still there. As soon as we saw the shop front few meters away from us (my daughter and I) had a strong emotion welled in my throat reminding me of my ounger days and the kind staff at Lina stores. Stepping in the beloved shop everything looked the same and comforting. The staff ’s faces were obviously unfamiliar except a young male who vaguely resembled one of the old staffs of about 30 years ago! I wondered whether he was the son of one of the old shop assistants? We bought much goodies/foodies to our delight. The Lina store shopping bag is sitting on the sofa next to me on the back of which I now found your website. We shall surely be back in the near for more glorious Italian food in the near future.
See you soon, no doubt.
